Abstract
Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD are prevalent among home care patients and significantly impact quality of life. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project aims to assess the impact of structured education on stress reduction techniques—such as mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), progressive muscle relaxation, cognitive reframing, and guided breathing—on PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scores. A selected registered nurse at Human Touch Home Care (HTHC) will provide targeted education to eligible patients, using a teach-back method to ensure comprehension. PHQ-9 and GAD-7 assessments will be administered before and two weeks after the intervention. Data will be analyzed to determine if stress reduction education positively affects mental health outcomes. The goal is to demonstrate the efficacy of practical, evidence-based stress management techniques in home care, leading to measurable reductions in depression and anxiety symptoms.
