Abstract
Many surgical techniques to repair anorectal malformations (ARM) in females have been described including an endorectal dissection, an anterior perineal approach, and many different types of anoplasties. The majority of pediatric surgeons now use the posterior sagittal approach to repair these malformations. The debate recently has been centered more on the possibility of performing these operations primarily without a protective colostomy. © 2006 Springer-Verlag.
