Abstract
Fecal incontinence represents a devastating problem for all those who suffer from it. It often prevents a person from becoming socially accepted, which in turn provokes serious psychological sequelae. It is a problem that impacts more children than previously thought, affecting those born with anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung's disease as well as children with spinal cord problems or spinal injuries. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Italia.
