Abstract
Uses awareness of irony as a clue to understanding D. Campbell's ethical concerns about conflicts between biological and social evolution and between psychology and moral tradition. This epistemological consideration of Campbell's thesis is illuminated by the work of M. Polanyi (1958). (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved).
