Abstract
A case of leptomeningeal carcinomatosis due to a poorly differentiated malignancy is presented. Immunohistochemistry was used to characterize it as a squamous cell carcinoma. Squamous cell carcinomas rarely invade the meninges. There are few well-founded guidelines for managing patients with this condition. Prognosis is generally poor. A literature review of this entity is provided. © 2009 Springer-Verlag.
