Abstract
A new generation production logging tool known as the Gas Holdup Tool (GHT) is described. The tool provides a direct and highly accurate quantitative fullbore measurement of gas holdup. Four examples are given which demonstrate how information from the GHT simplifies the overall task of: understanding and tracking the movement of multiphase fluids within casing; and monitoring the movement of reservoir fluid contacts.
