Abstract

Various ongoing studies are attempting to settle unresolved issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic heart disease (IHD) in women. This article summarizes the five such trials: the Women's Health initiative (WHI), Angiographic Trials in Women, Evaluation of Ischemic Heart Disease in Women (EIHDW), Estrogen Replacement and Atherosclerosis (ERA) study, and Heart and Estrogen/Progestin Replacement Study (HERS).
