Medium: Acrylic Painting.
This is my recreation of Netter's illustration of a mitral commissurotomy from the Ciba collection. My mentor had lent me the book when I joined the lab as a lab technician and science illustrator. It was my first time using acrylic paints (I typically only draw with pen or pencil) so it was fun to try out a new medium. I gravitated towards drawing this illustration because of how legible the shape and structure was; I also love the heart. In general, Netter's illustrations convey such a grounded sense of what you are studying. I only did the easy part by recreating his illustration while he created the composition.
